Air travel with a pet Czech Airlines: rules and fares
On flights operated by Czech Airlines, passengers can transport animals as unchecked baggage or hand baggage in the passenger cabin of the aircraft (PETC), or as checked baggage in the baggage compartment of the aircraft (AVIH), if local regulations of the country of departure, country of destination or country allow transit.
The passenger is responsible for observing all conditions of carriage necessary for the animal to enter the territory of the corresponding country.
Where can animals be transported?
Animals may only be transported to countries where the regulations of the country of destination allow, in accordance with the conditions established by that country. Detailed information about the conditions for importing an animal into the territory of a country can be provided to you by the embassy of the corresponding country or the state veterinary service. Abroad, this information can provide the relevant government agency. Transportation of the animal may be denied if the animal is in poor health or due to an infectious situation in the country of origin. The air carrier has the right to request permission from the veterinary service to transport the animal or approval of the cage used, if it considers it necessary.
Do I need a preliminary application for a flight with a pet?
The passenger must always make an application for the transportation of the animal to the reservation, at least 48 hours before the planned departure (due to the fact that the number of transported animals in the passenger compartment (PETC) is limited, the reservation is subject to the consent of the carrier).
Where will the pet fly?
Some types of animals can be transported for a fee in the passenger cabin of the aircraft or as checked baggage in the luggage compartment of the aircraft, in the appropriate size of the animal cage or in a portable bag with a stable, impermeable bottom (the inner space of the cage should allow the animal to turn, stand up and lie down in a natural position), as well as with sufficient openings for breathing. Such cages and bags must be certified (by IATA) for transportation in an airplane.
On flights operated by Czech Airlines passengers, in the passenger compartment, a maximum of three small cages with animals (one in business class and two in economy class) can be transported.

- only a dog or cat can be transported in the passenger compartment
- the dimensions of the cage or portable bag should not exceed a length of 43 cm, a width of 30 cm and a height of 27 cm

- the cage must be equipped with protection against opening
What documents does a pet need for air travel?
Dogs, cats and ferrets older than 3 months when traveling within the European Union or to the European Union must have a Euro passport or veterinary certificate confirming the current vaccine against rabies, it must be tattooed or have a microchip for identification. The remaining animals must have all the documents required by the veterinary regulations of the country of destination.
